🌌Stories without a fixed horizon
Shorts, series and experiments that are allowed to wander. Nothing here has to be exactly the length it was commissioned at.
A television network from Hollywood North.
Narrative Blob is a new kind of television channel — stories, animation, strange little worlds, recurring characters and the occasional fake commercial, made in British Columbia, Canada.
You don't need to know what you're about to watch. Arrive, get comfortable, and see where the story goes.
Welcome to the Blob
Most television is organized around programs. Narrative Blob is organized around somewhere you can be. Characters come back. Stories branch and wander off. The bits between the shows turn out to be stories too — one of them introduces someone you'll still be thinking about next week. Stories grow new characters, and those characters turn up somewhere else entirely.
You can watch it completely out of order and it still holds together. What comes out of that isn't a collection of shows. It's a place that's always mid-sentence, and you've just walked in.
Shorts, series and experiments that are allowed to wander. Nothing here has to be exactly the length it was commissioned at.
Recurring characters, places you'll start to recognize, and interstitials that slowly become part of the story.
Put it on and pay attention, or put it on and let it keep you company. Both are the correct way to watch.
Imaginative, accessible, surprising, a little bit strange — and made to be watched by actual people rather than demonstrated at them. The Blob should feel like somewhere welcoming rather than somewhere you have to keep up with.
The feeling
There's no pilot to catch up on and no episode one to go and find. The channel is a place you arrive at, and whatever is on when you get there is the right thing to have landed on.
Not chaos — just the sense that the channel hasn't run out of ideas and isn't about to. That's the whole feeling we're chasing.
What's on
A growing mix of formats, all of it made for the same channel. Some of it you'll follow. Some of it you'll find by accident at 1 a.m.
Short-form and long-form narrative programming — the spine of the channel.
Original animated shorts, series and visual experiments.
Explorations of fictional places, characters and settings that outlive the episodes set in them.
Sketches, absurdist material and recurring characters behaving badly.
Speculative stories and impossible places, treated as production challenges rather than problems.
Atmospheric, relaxing and visually immersive material built for leaving on.
Pieces that poke at what television can be, on the theory that someone should.
Blob appearances, jokes, announcements, fake commercials, channel idents and mini-stories. Often the best bits.
Coming up
Narrative Blob is being built right now — the channel, the shows, the furniture between them. Here's a first look at what's taking shape.
Nothing here needs a wiki or a viewing order. Start wherever you land, and the channel will meet you there.
Subscribe on YouTube and you'll be there when the first things land. No schedule to learn, no catching up required.
Made in British Columbia
British Columbia has been making film and television for so long that it has become part of the place — part of the weather, almost. Narrative Blob grows out of here rather than out of an attempt to copy somewhere else.
Mountains, coast, rain, long grey light, a city that keeps rebuilding itself. You can't make things in a place like this for very long without the place turning up in what you make.
This province has spent decades being genuinely excellent at telling other people's stories. The more interesting question is what it makes when the story is its own.
And it's for the people here first — the ones who'll recognise the weather in it.
Made in British Columbia, and run on Canadian infrastructure — including, when it makes sense, hosting in Quebec. We're not going to pretend the hardware came from the backyard. We are going to keep the creative decisions here.
You're part of it
Narrative Blob isn't something we make and you receive. Watching is the whole point — and the people watching should end up inside the story rather than sitting outside it.
Ideas, jokes, characters, a thing you've always wanted to see on television. Some of it will end up on the channel.
Which world gets more time, which character comes back, what happens next. Some doors should be opened by the people watching.
Watch-alongs, chats, and the occasional challenge where everybody makes something at once.
Early cuts, unfinished things and a look at how any of this gets made — for the people who are curious about that sort of thing.
Collaborative world-building and interactive stories: places that grow because a lot of people are thinking about them at once.
The people who turn up first get to shape what this becomes. That isn't a reward tier — it's just true of anything this early.
A channel about a place that keeps going needs people in the place. The hope is that the people watching eventually become part of how the whole thing gets made — not a market it gets made for.
The long game
The goal is a channel that never really stops — new pieces, old favourites, idents, experiments and things that only exist because nobody told us not to. Not everything will be made in real time. The channel will just always have something happening.
The invitation
Narrative Blob is just getting started. Come and watch it happen.
